Where to sleep in Tadjourah: Sables Blancs and Loubatanleh

Tadjourah has two establishments in our catalogue, and they are the only ones whose prices we can publish. At Les Sables Blancs, five kilometres from the town, the seaside camping pitch costs 10,000 Djiboutian francs, the deluxe double room 25,000 and the family sea-view suite 34,500. At Loubatanleh, in the Tadjourah region, a night under the stars is 8,000 francs and rooms run from 34,000 to 65,000.
Where to sleep in Tadjourah, and where are the establishments?
Our September 2026 Google survey counts only four rated establishments in the Tadjourah region, for a median score of 4.8/5 and 462 cumulative reviews. The market is therefore narrow, and that has to be taken into account: the accommodation capacity of the white town and its immediate surroundings remains limited, while demand concentrates on the cool season.
Our catalogue counts two establishments there, which are also the only two whose prices we can publish. They are not in the town: both stand on the coast, on either side of Tadjourah.
| Establishment | Where exactly | Our catalogue | September 2026 Google survey |
|---|---|---|---|
| Les Sables Blancs | five kilometres from Tadjourah, route d’Obock, at the foot of a black-rock cliff | 10,000 to 34,500 Fdj | 4.5/5 over 112 reviews |
| Loubatanleh Village Resort | in the Tadjourah region, about nine kilometres from the town | 8,000 to 325,000 Fdj | 4.9/5 over 22 reviews |
| Gadileh Resort Hotel | in Tadjourah | not sold by us | 4.8/5 over 334 reviews, rated 3 stars |
| Le Golf, Corto Maltese, Sable Blanc holiday village | in Tadjourah, according to the ANT directory | not sold by us | no certain link in our records |
One correction to remember. The catalogue presented Loubatanleh as an establishment of “Djibouti Ville”. That is wrong: the establishment lies in the Tadjourah region, about nine kilometres from the town. If you are organising a stay on the north coast, that is where to look for it, and not in the capital.
How much do the two establishments of our catalogue cost?
Two very different pricing logics coexist on this coast, and the gap between the two extremes, from 8,000 to 325,000 Djiboutian francs, is explained less by comfort than by the nature of what is being bought: a night under canvas, or the whole villa.
Les Sables Blancs offer three formulas.
| Formula | Price | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Seaside camping pitch | 10,000 Fdj | camp |
| Deluxe double room | 25,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Family sea-view suite | 34,500 Fdj | hotel |
Loubatanleh Village Resort offers eleven, from bivouacking to privatisation.
| Formula | Price | Category |
|---|---|---|
| Night under the stars | 8,000 Fdj | camping |
| Goda family room | 34,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Arrey double room | 40,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Goda couple room | 40,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Ripta double room | 40,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Mabla double room | 44,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Arrey family room | 55,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Ripta family room | 55,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Mabla family room, 2 adults and 2 children | 65,000 Fdj | hotel |
| Villa privatisation, small group of fewer than 15 people | 300,000 Fdj | villa |
| Villa privatisation, large group of 15 to 20 people | 325,000 Fdj | villa |
The rooms carry the names of places in the region: Goda, Arrey, Ripta, Mabla. The catalogue’s median price for this establishment is 44,000 Djiboutian francs, well above its night under the stars, which is a reminder that the average says nothing useful across so wide a range.
What these prices do not say. The catalogue documents neither air conditioning, nor hot water, nor wifi, nor board. We do not infer them from the standing: that information is not published in our sources and must be confirmed with the establishment.
What does the Sables Blancs hotel offer?
It is the best-known site of the region, and the only establishment of Tadjourah whose contact we know with certainty: 77 81 28 26, confirmed both by our catalogue and by the Google survey.
The site stands five kilometres from Tadjourah, on the route d’Obock, at the foot of a black-rock cliff. It is not a town hotel but a holiday village: our survey describes a hotel side and a thatched-shelter side, and our catalogue sells three formulas there, from the seaside camping pitch to the family suite with a sea view.
In the September 2026 Google survey, Les Sables Blancs are scored 4.5/5 over 112 reviews. That is the region’s second review volume, far behind the Gadileh Resort and its 334 reviews, but well above the two other rated addresses, which peak at twelve and four reviews. In other words: it is one of the only two establishments in Tadjourah on which there is genuinely substantial feedback.
What does Loubatanleh Village Resort offer?
Three categories coexist under a single name: camping, hotel and villa. That is what explains the spread of prices, from the night under the stars at 8,000 Djiboutian francs to the privatisation of the villa for a group of fifteen to twenty people, at 325,000 francs.
The establishment lies in the Tadjourah region, about nine kilometres from the town. Its verified number is 77 29 29 94. The one appearing in our catalogue, 77 18 39 23, was not confirmed by our other sources: we do not publish it.
In the September 2026 Google survey, it is scored 4.9/5 over 22 reviews. That is the second best score in the region’s survey, behind an establishment scored 5/5 over only four reviews, and it rests on a still small number of reviews: we report it with its volume precisely so that you can take it into account. Eleven of its eleven offers have images in our catalogue, against zero for the capital’s hotels that we sell, which is a concrete marker when booking at a distance.
Which establishments does Google score in Tadjourah?
The region counts only four rated establishments in our September 2026 survey, and two of them are ours. Here are all four, without prices for those we do not sell.
| Establishment | Google score | Reviews | Rating | Published contact |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gadileh Resort Hotel Tadjourah | 4.8/5 | 334 | 3 stars | 27 42 45 45, ANT directory |
| Sables blancs | 4.5/5 | 112 | not rated | 77 81 28 26, confirmed by Google |
| Campement de Ras Ali | 4.7/5 | 12 | not rated | not documented |
| Rue Audace | 5/5 | 4 | not rated | not documented |
The Gadileh Resort alone concentrates about two thirds of the region’s cumulative reviews. It is rated 3 stars by Google and scored 4.8/5 over 334 reviews: it is one more example where the official rating and visitor satisfaction do not measure the same thing. We do not sell it, so we have no price to give for it. The last two lines call for the same caution as everywhere else: twelve and four reviews are not enough to conclude.
The National Tourism Agency’s directory also cites Le Golf (77 83 95 33 and 77 84 65 98), the Corto Maltese (77 85 95 74) and a hotel of the Sable Blanc holiday village (21 34 45 00 and 77 60 86 85). Let us flag an uncertainty we do not hide: those last two numbers are not those of the Sables Blancs site we sell, and our sources do not allow us to say whether it is the same establishment under another name or two separate operations. Ask for confirmation before dialling.
A second uncertainty, of a different kind. Our Google survey contains two unlocated entries, Le Golfe (4/5 over 63 reviews) and Le Corto Maltese (3.8/5 over 36 reviews), which we do not link with certainty to the Tadjourah establishments cited by the ANT directory. The connection is plausible, it is not demonstrated: we would rather write that than assume it.
To sleep away from walls, the region also has camps: Dittilou, in its mountain cirque, and Rayali chez Fato, at the entrance to the bay. Our page on camps and ecolodges describes them, without prices, for lack of published offers.
Should you sleep in the town or at Les Sables Blancs?
| Criterion | In Tadjourah | At Les Sables Blancs | At Loubatanleh |
|---|---|---|---|
| Distance from the town | on site | five kilometres | about nine kilometres |
| In our catalogue | no | yes, three formulas | yes, eleven formulas |
| Published prices | none | 10,000 to 34,500 Fdj | 8,000 to 325,000 Fdj |
| Google score | Gadileh 4.8/5 over 334 reviews | 4.5/5 over 112 reviews | 4.9/5 over 22 reviews |
| Main interest | Fiaa beach and market on foot | beach and cliff, holiday village | rooms, camping and a privatisable villa |
| For whom | an urban stay, dinners in town | a multi-day seaside stay | groups, families, events |
The town keeps an advantage the two coastal sites do not have: you are on foot from the Fiaa beach, the market and the restaurants. Les Sables Blancs and Loubatanleh sell the opposite: the sea at the door, and the town a few minutes of track or road away.
One practical point weighs in the decision: the crossing. If you arrive by boat or ferry, accommodation in the town avoids organising a second transport on the very evening of your arrival. The details of the services are on the page ferry to Tadjourah and Obock.
What should you check before booking in Tadjourah?
Four points, drawn from what our sources actually document.
The contact. Two numbers are published on this page for our establishments: 77 81 28 26 for Les Sables Blancs, 77 29 29 94 for Loubatanleh. They are the only ones we have been able to cross-check. The other contact details quoted come from the National Tourism Agency’s directory and have not been individually verified.
The facilities. They are not documented. Air conditioning, hot water, board, transfer: ask the question. We would rather write that than let it be believed that the catalogue guarantees them.
Payment. Plan for cash: outside the tourist establishments, bank cards are rarely accepted in the region.
The period. The cool season runs from October to April, and it is also when local and foreign demand concentrates on the weekends. Capacities being small, it is better to book several weeks ahead. To set your dates, see when to go to Djibouti.
The Tadjourah page details the town, its beaches and its hinterland, and the page on Les Sables Blancs sets out what the site offers on the sea side. Further north, on the same coast, the page where to sleep in Obock covers the camps and bungalows of the neighbouring region.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a night in Tadjourah cost?
It all depends on the formula. At Les Sables Blancs, our catalogue shows 10,000 Djiboutian francs for a seaside camping pitch, 25,000 for a deluxe double room and 34,500 for a family suite with sea view. At Loubatanleh, a night under the stars comes down to 8,000 francs, rooms run from 34,000 to 65,000, and the villa privatisation reaches 325,000 francs.
Is Loubatanleh in Tadjourah or in Djibouti City?
In the Tadjourah region. Our catalogue wrongly attached it to Djibouti City; the September 2026 Google survey places it in the Tadjourah region, about nine kilometres from the town. That is an important correction for organising your stay: the establishment is not in the capital, but on the north coast, on the same side as Les Sables Blancs.
Where can you sleep near the Sables Blancs beach?
On site, or in Tadjourah, five kilometres away. The Sables Blancs site is laid out as a holiday village, with a hotel side and a thatched-shelter side according to our survey. Our catalogue offers three formulas there: the seaside camping pitch at 10,000 Djiboutian francs, the deluxe double room at 25,000 and the family sea-view suite at 34,500.
Which Tadjourah hotels are not in your catalogue?
The main one: the Gadileh Resort Hotel, scored 4.8/5 over 334 Google reviews in the September 2026 survey, which alone concentrates two thirds of the region's reviews. The National Tourism Agency's directory also cites Le Golf, the Corto Maltese and a hotel of the Sable Blanc holiday village. We do not sell them and we publish no price for them.
Do Tadjourah hotels have air conditioning or a pool?
We do not know, and we do not invent it. Neither our catalogue nor the National Tourism Agency's directory documents air conditioning, pool, wifi or breakfast for the establishments of Tadjourah. That information is not published in our sources: ask the establishment before confirming, especially between May and September, when the heat becomes punishing.
